JHAE Grading Expectations for Trimester 3 and Remote Learning
DPS Updated Guidance on Remote Learning Grading Policy
Due to feedback presented regarding the original grading policy, the DPS 2020 Trimester 3 Grading Policy has been adjusted. Equity remains at the heart of the policy and grades ultimately will only positively contribute to a learner's future in this unprecedented time.
What is the grading policy for students in grades ECE-5th at John H. Amesse?
Our expectations for learning and engagement during remote learning is that your child is completing assignments and checking in with their teacher regarding expectations. If you need modified content or support, please reach out to your teacher. We understand that we do not want to punish your child for circumstances that are beyond their control. However, we also believe in clear communication with your child’s teacher and engagement in the learning. We want your children as prepared as possible to enter their next grade!
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher for guidance.
We will not be issuing number or letter grades for Trimester 3. Instead, each teacher in ECE-5th grades will provide descriptive comments to each learner on the following:
-Where learners were at in the content area prior to March 15th, 2020
-Where learners are currently at with regards to the learner expected outcomes by the end of the year
-Ideas that families and future teachers can do to continue the learning for individual students
-Participation and engagement during remote learning
As a reminder, all students are expected to:
- Fully engage and participate in remote learning - school is still happening!
- Complete all assignments or communicate proactively why assignments cannot be completed.
- Monitor progress in each class regularly and advocate as needed. North staff is here to help support!
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to improve remote learning over the coming weeks. Please don’t hesitate to contact your student’s teacher or Dr. Walker if you have any additional questions!
