Thank you for all of the love that you showed our wonderful educators this week! They are the BEST and we thank you for celebrating them alongside us. Below are some very important details regarding the close of the school year.
On Monday, May 11th, we will have our final School Advisory Board meeting for the school year. If you are interested in sharing your voice and helping to make decisions and guide the school during the 2020-2021 school year, please contact Angelina Walker at [email protected] if you would like to be added to the google meets!
On Thursday, May 14th, we will distribute the World's Finest Chocolates at curbside pick up from 1pm-4pm in the John H. Amesse parking lot. Families will not be allowed to exit their vehicles.
On Monday, May 25th there will be no school in honor of Memorial Day.
On Tuesday, May 26th, we will have a virtual field trip day for all grade levels ECE-5th grade.
On Wednesday, May 27th we will have a Virtual Field Day with lots of games and FUN! More information to follow!
On Thursday, May 28th we will have our ECE 3, ECE4, Kinder and 5th grade continuations. ECE 3 will be at 9:30 and 10:00, ECE 4 will be at 10:30, Kinder will be at 11:30 and 5th grade will be at 5pm. More information to follow! This is our last day of school for all ECE3-5th graders.
Finally, on Friday, May 29th we will have curbside drop off of chrome books for students NOT returning to DPS. See information below...We also will have another car parade. More details to follow!
Report cards and continuation certificates will be mailed home this summer.
All students will keep their chromebooks or iPads over the summer along with their chargers. It is your responsibility to ensure that technology is appropriately stored and taken care of. If you are a fifth grader, you will keep your technology and return it to your middle school in DPS. If you are leaving Denver Public Schools, you must return technology on May 29th to John H. Amesse between 9-11am for curbside drop off. If you are Kinder-4th grade and will be attending a different DPS school (not JHAE) in the fall, you will keep your technology and return it to your new DPS school in the fall.

- I am a student, can I keep my district-issued devices for the summer?
- If you are returning to a DPS school next year, you do not need to turn in your device.
- If you have lost your device or have more than one school or district-issued device, you will need to report it to your school.
- All seniors and students leaving the district must turn in their devices, hotspots and related accessories.
- Do I need to take my stickers/artwork off my device?
- Yes, all stickers, decals, and pictures need to be removed from devices.
- If there is writing or stickers on the device, you will be charged a $25 damage fee.
- I am a teacher, can I keep my district-issued device for the summer?
- If you are returning to the same school next year, you may hold onto your device over the summer.
- If you are moving to a different school, please check in with your Principal.
- There are keys missing on my district-issued device. Will I be charged for that?
- No, you will not be charged for missing keys.
- I broke my district-issued device screen, will I be charged for that?
- No, you will not be charged for accidental damages at the end of this school year.
- If you have intentionally vandalized or damaged your district-issued device (as determined by your school), you will be charged $50-250 depending on the damage.
- I lost my charger, but have my district-issued device. Will I be charged a fee?
- Yes, please see the table below for fees.

- I do not have any items to turn in. What will I be charged?
- Students who do not return their district-issued device will be charged $250 for the lost item.
- Students who do not turn in their hotspot, hotspot charger, device charger or device case (if applicable) will be charged $20 for each lost item.
- Cumulatively, $250 will be the highest amount any student will be charged for a single device (including accessories).
- I have my charger and case, but lost my device. How much will I be charged?
- Students who do not return their district-issued device will be charged $250 for the lost item.
- If a student has lost their district-issued device they should report it to the technical staff at their school before the end of the school year.
- I have a mobile hotspot. Do I need to turn it in?
- If you are graduating, you must turn in your hotspot.
- If you have a younger sibling within DPS who needs a hotspot, please work with your school’s STR/STP to transfer the device to that sibling (electronically).
- If you are transferring outside of DPS, you must turn in your hot spot.
- It is after the last day of school and I need to turn in my device, where can I turn it in?
- If you need to turn equipment in, contact your school’s STR/STP to determine when it may be turned in. A loss fee may remain on your account until it is turned in.
- I turned in someone else’s district-issued device and don’t know where mine is. Will I be charged?
- Yes, the charge for a lost device is $250. Students are responsible for the device that was checked out to them at the beginning of the year. Students will need to talk to a school administrator about this if they have questions/concerns.
- I lost my district-issued device and paid the $250 fee, but my device was turned back in. Can I get my fee refunded?
- Yes, students and parents will have to work with the bookkeeper at each school to get fees refunded once the technical staff can verify that the lost or missing items have been turned in.
